Community Projects

After extensive research and collaboration with community agencies, we determined an unmet need for strengthening families experiencing poverty in the Harrisburg area. JLH strives to ultimately help families become financially self-sufficient, specifically focusing on prevention. Thus, our community outreach efforts seek to empower and strengthen youth and their families experiencing poverty, in hopes of giving them resources and tools to help them break free from the limitations of poverty.

Current projects include:

-Family Literacy Workshops

-Build Days with Habitat for Humanity Greater Harrisburg

-Family Food Packing Nights at Central Pennsylvania Food Bank

-Outdoor Education Day for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Capital Region

-Apartment Clean up for Brethren Housing Association

-School Supply Drive for Ben Franklin Elementary School

-Self-Defense workshop

-Summer Enrichment Scholarship Initiative
